What is Crocstock Image Library?

We have created an internet based Health and Social Care image library specialising in learning disabilities. Traditionally people with learning disabilities are poorly represented in image libraries. Our aim is to provide high quality positive images of people with learning disabilities.

Crocstock Images also provides a growing stock of images covering categories in mental health, the elderly and substance misuse.

What type of photographs will the library contain?

Most of the images show people but there are also photographs of equipment, objects, places and conceptual images that contain people but don’t identify any individuals. We want to cover as many different issues within Health and Social Care as possible. This will allow users of the library to easily find relevant pictures.

Have people given consent for their images to be used?

Many people in our images have the capacity to consent for themselves and to help them understand we use simple language and images to explain what the photos are going to be used for. We are always happy to involve advocates and/or carers to ensure that the individual is fully understanding of what they are consenting to.

If the individual does not have the capacity to consent or this is in doubt then we involve parents/carers (legal guardians) and/or Health & Social Care Professionals who know the person well and can help decide whether being involved in the photography is in the individual’s best interests.

Who is the library for?

The library is for professional individuals and organisations working to promote learning disabilities in a positive way. We will only allow registered users access to the photographs allowing us to clarify who they are and the intended use of the images.

How will Crocstock Images work?

You will be able to view all the images on the site but will have to register in order to purchase images. Once approved you will be able to purchase images using a debit/credit card or you can set up a monthly invoice account if you’re planning to purchase images on a more regular basis.
