Capturing Mental Health

Posted on February 6th, 2009 with 0 comments

Crocodile House were photographing in Lincoln recently at the Peter Hodgkinson Centre, Acute Services Day Hospital (Lincolnshire Partnership NHS  Trust). We needed a variety of Mental Health related images for an Integrated Care Pathway design project which we had recently undertaken. We had a very enjoyable morning with staff and in-patients making us very welcome and were able to get a fantastic range of images. These will be used to compliment the Integrated Care Pathway which will be published later in the year.

Many thanks to Donna Bradford, Team Leader and the staff and in-patients at the Centre.

(We won’t go into details of what happened when we tried to take photos of the prison on the way out of the car park.)

Hitting All The Right Notes

Posted on December 2nd, 2008 with 0 comments

afadc864-ec88-493c-97ed-861ff8e2e2aeLast week we spent a very enjoyable couple of hours in the company of Leicester Bach Choir. We were at their rehearsals to take a set of promotional photographs which they could use for various publicity purposes. It certainly made a change to be taking photographs accompanied by such great singing.

Crocodile House photography always uses two photographers which results in us capturing a great variety of shots. It also means that our clients get a great choice of images. From the two hours we were there we were able to provide over 80 high quality images.

To get you in the festive mood the Choir is performing a Christmas Concert on 13th December at Leicester Cathedral starting at 7.30pm.

For further information visit the Leicester Bach Choir website.

Exhibition on the Move

Posted on October 15th, 2008 with 0 comments

Following on from a successful week at the View from the Top gallery in Nottingham the Recognition exhibition moved on to Kidderminster. It was on show at the BILD (British Institute of Learning Disabilities) headquarters for the occasion of their Annual General Meeting.

The exhibition was well received by all who attended and was a great opportunity for Nottinghamshire Healthcare (NHS) Trust to publicise their services and for Crocodile House to showcase their photography skills.

Exhibition Launch

Posted on September 22nd, 2008 with 0 comments

4ef8ed68-9d76-415f-9915-2bf901ecacdeWhen the exhibition was completely set up we realized it was going to have far more impact than we first thought. We had designed five Perspex cubes each showing four images that slowly rotated. The cubes depicted staff and service users wearing T-shirts with a name that they had been called at some time in their lives. The words were both negative and positive. The movement of the cubes helped give the feeling of how temporary a name can be and yet how it can stay in our minds for a long time.

The exhibitions aim was to make us all aware of the stigma attached to people with learning disabilities and mental ill health. It challenged the viewer to think of what words have been used to describe them and how it made them feel.

The combination of this and the photographs on large canvas depicting positive relationships really had a great impact on the opening night.

e750cc6e-5115-445b-9ce4-b10a7cdaeeb1So successful was this first week that the Community Learning Disability Directorate have decided to move the exhibition around Nottinghamshire as part of their ongoing anti-stigma work.

Due to the success and effectiveness of these anti-stigma projects Crocodile House has been invited to be involved in another campaign next year.

Having worked closely with Water at Work this year in producing new and exciting promotional materials we were glad to hear that Tanya, who runs the business, recently won a national entrepreneurial award.

Tanya managed to find time in her busy schedule to pop to Downing Street to collect her Best Mumpreneur award at the 2008 mother@work awards and is now entered into the National Business Awards.

Quality Assured

Posted on May 9th, 2008 with 0 comments

We’ve recently joined the East Midlands’ business support Supplier Brokerage Service.

The aim of this service is to help businesses find the right supplier to meet their often unique needs.

By registering Crocodile House and its services on the Supplier Brokerage system we are raising the awareness of our business amongst the region’s business support organisations such as Business Link, Learning and Skills Council, and UK Trade and Investment.

We’ve already registered and are now on the way to becoming a fully quality assured service provider. To do this we have to prove we have all the right business insurance such as Professional Indemnity Insurance and supply the Brokerage Service with client referees.

Once these are all checked out we’ll be on the list and a fully quality assured service provider.
